Acadia began as Sieur de Monts National Monument on July 8, 1916, became Lafayette National Park on February 26, 1919, the first national park in the eastern United States, and took the name Acadia on January 19, 1929. It was built from land donated to the public, and today it protects more than 47,000 acres, most of them on Mount Desert Island. The island rises abruptly from the sea to 1,530 feet on Cadillac Mountain, and eight of its mountains top 1,000 feet.
The curated map area is about 27 by 29 kilometers around Mount Desert Island, so it also takes in neighboring islands and the mainland shore; the park's Schoodic Peninsula section lies just outside it to the east. In the Contours preview, the island's mountains form a diagonal chain of tight, bright rings, Somes Sound cuts into the island between them, and the low islands around it appear as small separate shapes.
The preview is the Contours export for this map area in the shale palette on a dark background, generated from public elevation data. In the creator you can change the contour interval, colors and title, or switch to Ridgeline or Strata. Choose 3D Terrain Model to download the island as a printable STL or 3MF.

Questions about the Acadia National Park artwork
- Does the Acadia map include the Schoodic Peninsula?
- No. The map area frames Mount Desert Island, and the Schoodic section of the park lies a few miles east of it. Draw a wider area in the creator to include Schoodic, or search it to frame it on its own.
- Can I download this landscape as an STL file?
- Yes. Choose 3D Terrain Model in the creator to turn the same map area into a printable relief model. Download STL or 3MF, open it in your slicer, and check the scale for your printer.
- How much does it cost?
- Downloads are pay what you want, including free. You can add a contribution at checkout if the artwork or model is worth it to you. No account is needed.
- Do you ship a printed poster or a 3D print?
- No. Printed Canyon delivers digital files only: PNG, PDF and SVG for posters, and STL, 3MF and GLB for terrain models. You print them at home or through a print shop or 3D-printing service of your choice.
