Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, established in 1916, protects the summits and rift zones of two active volcanoes on the Island of Hawaiʻi. Mauna Loa, the largest active volcano on Earth, rises to 13,679 feet (4,169 m) and last erupted in 2022. Kīlauea, whose summit stands at roughly 4,000 feet, erupted almost continuously from 1983 to 2018; that year its summit caldera collapsed by hundreds of meters, and new eruptions have since returned to the crater.
The curated map area is a rectangle of about 79 by 55 kilometers around Kīlauea and the summit of Mauna Loa, so it also takes in land outside the park. The broad shields read as nearly flat lines at the default settings, so this preview raises the vertical exaggeration to 200 and pans the camera. Mauna Loa's summit stands as a peak at the upper left, Kīlauea sits in the gentler lines to its right, and the profiles stop where the land meets the sea.
The preview is the Ridgeline export for this map area, generated from public elevation data. The creator opens with the same raised vertical exaggeration, so you can start from this view, change line density, perspective, colors and title, or switch to Strata or Contours. Choose 3D Terrain Model to download the volcanoes as a printable STL or 3MF; the download credits the elevation source used.

Questions about the Hawaiʻi Volcanoes artwork
- Does the map follow the national park boundary?
- No. The map area is a rectangle around Kīlauea and the summit of Mauna Loa, so land outside the park is included. To frame one part of the park, such as Kīlauea's caldera, search for it or draw your own area in the creator.
- Does the map show Kīlauea after the 2018 collapse?
- Not necessarily. Elevation data is a snapshot from when it was surveyed, so recent lava flows and the deeper summit caldera may not appear, depending on the data source used for your map area.
- Can I download this landscape as an STL file?
- Yes. Choose 3D Terrain Model in the creator to turn the same map area into a printable relief model. Download STL or 3MF, open it in your slicer, and check the scale for your printer.
- How much does it cost?
- Downloads are pay what you want, including free. You can add a contribution at checkout if the artwork or model is worth it to you. No account is needed.
- Do you ship a printed poster or a 3D print?
- No. Printed Canyon delivers digital files only: PNG, PDF and SVG for posters, and STL, 3MF and GLB for terrain models. You print them at home or through a print shop or 3D-printing service of your choice.
