Milford Sound, Piopiotahi in Māori, is a fiord carved by glaciers in Fiordland National Park on New Zealand's South Island, open to the Tasman Sea. Its walls rise almost straight from the water, and Mitre Peak reaches 1,692 meters (5,551 feet). The park is part of Te Wāhipounamu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Milford Track ends at Sandfly Point near the head of the sound.
The curated map area is about 28 by 28 kilometers around the fiord. In the Ridgeline preview, the lines run low and flat where they cross the water and climb sharply into the peaks on both sides, so the sound reads as a channel cut through the mountains.
The preview is the Ridgeline export for this map area, generated from public global elevation data. In the creator you can change line density, perspective, colors and title, or switch to Contours or Strata. Choose 3D Terrain Model to download the fiord as a printable STL or 3MF; the download credits the elevation source used.
