Ngorongoro Crater Topographic Map

Ngorongoro Crater, in northern Tanzania, formed when a large volcano collapsed into itself, leaving a caldera often described as the largest unbroken one in the world. Its floor of grassland, swamp and a shallow soda lake supports dense wildlife. The crater is the heart of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.

The curated map area is about 39 by 28 kilometers around the crater. In the Contours preview, the rim shows as a tight ring of lines around an almost empty floor, and the slopes of the surrounding highlands ripple outward to the edges of the frame.
