Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Printed Canyon is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. We designed Printed Canyon to minimize data collection — we don't require accounts and we don't sell your data.
2. Data We Collect
We collect only what's necessary to provide the Service: (a) GPX files you upload, processed temporarily to generate terrain models; (b) email address, only if you voluntarily provide it during checkout for payment receipts; (c) payment information, processed entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details; (d) basic analytics data via Google Analytics, such as page views, referrers, approximate location, and aggregate usage events.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your GPX files and GPS tracks are used only to create your selected product. Active inputs expire within 30 days of upload and are deleted earlier when processing and deferred downloads no longer need them. Deferred poster formats can be generated only while their source input remains available. Checkout email addresses are used for receipts and order confirmations with download links.
4. Data Storage & Retention
Generated files are available for 30 days after generation. Payment records are retained separately for accounting. Private database backups may contain GPS data and expire within 35 days of the backup. Expired inputs are removed before a restored database can serve requests or resume work. During the initial retention rollout, existing poster inputs have a seven-day deletion grace period, but expired inputs cannot be used. Data is stored on servers in the United States.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services: (a) Stripe and Link — Link, Stripe's merchant of record, sells our paid orders and handles payment, sales tax and receipts. Stripe's privacy policy (https://stripe.com/privacy) governs their handling of your payment data; (b) Google Analytics — for aggregate traffic and conversion measurement; (c) Sentry — for error reports from the website and our servers, which can include your IP address, browser details, the page you were on and, when an error occurs in your browser, a recording of that page with all text masked and images blocked; (d) Resend — to deliver order confirmation emails and messages sent through our contact form; (e) Geoapify and Photon by komoot — for place search. Our servers send the text you type and your selected language to Geoapify or, when Geoapify is unavailable, to Photon, but not your IP address; (f) Mapbox — your browser loads the background maps in the creator directly from Mapbox's servers (api.mapbox.com), which receive your IP address, browser details and our website address, under Mapbox's privacy policy (https://www.mapbox.com/legal/privacy); (g) Elevation, water, map and star data providers, listed on our Data sources page — our servers download data for the area you choose from them. Your GPX files and personal data are not sent to these providers.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to: (a) access any personal data we hold about you; (b) request deletion of your data; (c) opt out of analytics by using a browser extension or ad blocker; (d) not provide an email during checkout — it is entirely optional. Since we don't require accounts and collect minimal data, most users have no personal data stored with us beyond temporary processing data.
8. Children's Privacy
Printed Canyon is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
