Iowa lies between two great rivers: the Missouri forms its western border and the Mississippi its eastern one. The land rises gently toward the northwest, where Hawkeye Point reaches 1,670 feet (509 m), and falls to 480 feet (146 m) where the Des Moines River meets the Mississippi in the southeast. The Loess Hills, ridges of wind-blown silt, line the Missouri valley in the west.

In the Strata preview, the bands are palest across the high northwest and darken toward the southeast, so the state's tilt shows at a glance. River valleys cut darker channels diagonally across the outline, and the eastern edge drops along the Mississippi bluffs.

The preview is the Strata export for Iowa with the forest palette, at 18 × 24 inches. In the creator you can change the palette, vertical exaggeration, background and title, or switch the state to Ridgeline, Contours or a 3D terrain model.

Questions about the Iowa artwork

Do the Loess Hills show on the Iowa poster?
At state scale they appear as a slightly rougher edge along the Missouri valley on the western border. To see the ridges themselves, search Loess Hills or a town such as Council Bluffs in the creator and frame a smaller area.
Can I make a 3D-printable model of the whole state?
Yes. Switch the product to 3D Terrain Model in the creator to preview the state as a relief model and download STL, 3MF or GLB. Choose a model size that fits your printer and check the slicer preview before printing.
How much does it cost?
Downloads are pay what you want, including free. You can add a contribution at checkout if the artwork or model is worth it to you. No account is needed.
Do you ship a printed poster or a 3D print?
No. Printed Canyon delivers digital files only: PNG, PDF and SVG for posters, and STL, 3MF and GLB for terrain models. You print them at home or through a print shop or 3D-printing service of your choice.
