Louisiana is one of the lowest states. Its mean elevation is about 100 feet (30 m), the highest point, Driskill Mountain in the northern hills, is just 535 feet (163 m), and parts of New Orleans lie below sea level, at 8 feet (2 m) below in the USGS figures. The Mississippi River runs down the eastern side and spreads into its delta, and the coast dissolves into marsh, bayous and barrier islands along the Gulf.

In the Strata preview, the northern hills rise as the palest greens at the top of the outline, the bands step down across the central lowlands, and the Mississippi's floodplain shows as a darker channel. In the south, the coastal marshes break into scattered fragments where land and water mix.

The preview is the Strata export for Louisiana with the forest palette, at 18 × 24 inches. In the creator you can change the palette, vertical exaggeration, background and title, or switch to Ridgeline, Contours or a 3D terrain model.

Questions about the Louisiana artwork

How does a below-sea-level city like New Orleans appear?
Elevation below sea level is kept, so parts of New Orleans sit at the bottom of the color scale. At state scale the city is small; search New Orleans in the creator to frame the city and the river bend on their own.
Can I make a 3D-printable model of the whole state?
Yes. Switch the product to 3D Terrain Model in the creator to preview the state as a relief model and download STL, 3MF or GLB. Choose a model size that fits your printer and check the slicer preview before printing.
How much does it cost?
Downloads are pay what you want, including free. You can add a contribution at checkout if the artwork or model is worth it to you. No account is needed.
Do you ship a printed poster or a 3D print?
No. Printed Canyon delivers digital files only: PNG, PDF and SVG for posters, and STL, 3MF and GLB for terrain models. You print them at home or through a print shop or 3D-printing service of your choice.
