North Dakota climbs in steps from east to west. The Red River Valley on the Minnesota line, the bed of the glacial Lake Agassiz, is remarkably flat and holds the lowest point, at 750 feet (229 m). West of it the Drift Prairie rolls up to the Missouri Coteau and the Missouri Plateau, and in the southwest the Little Missouri River has carved the Badlands near White Butte, the highest point at 3,506 feet (1,069 m).

In the Contours preview, the Red River Valley along the eastern edge is nearly empty, the escarpments of the Coteau run diagonally across the state as bands of closer lines, and the Badlands and buttes of the southwest fill with small, intricate rings.

The preview is the Contours export for North Dakota with the canyon palette on cream paper, on a 24 × 18 inch landscape sheet. In the creator you can change the interval, colors and title, or switch to Strata, Ridgeline or a 3D model.
