The Kohala Coast is the dry, leeward shore of the Island of Hawaiʻi north of Kailua-Kona, where black lava fields from Hualālai and Mauna Loa run down to the sea. To the north, the Kohala Mountains, the oldest volcano on the island, rise to about 5,480 feet (1,670 m) and end in the steep green valleys around Pololū.
The Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway runs along this coast from Kailua-Kona to Kawaihae, and the Akoni Pule Highway climbs on to Hāwī. The world championship triathlon's bike course follows that road north to the turnaround at Hāwī and back, through the heat of the lava fields and the crosswinds near Kawaihae. See the Kona course page for posters of the race course.
The curated map area is about 47 by 83 kilometers, from just south of Kailua-Kona to the northern tip of the island. In the Ridgeline preview, the profiles end along the coast on the left, Hualālai rises as a dome near the middle, the Kohala Mountains and their valleys fill the top, and the slopes of Mauna Loa climb in at the lower right.
The preview is the Ridgeline export for this map area, generated from public elevation data. In the creator you can change line density, perspective, colors and title, switch to Strata or Contours, or upload a GPX file of your own ride. Choose 3D Terrain Model to download the coast as a printable STL or 3MF; the download credits the elevation source used.

- Yes. Choose 3D Terrain Model in the creator to turn the same map area into a printable relief model. Download STL or 3MF, open it in your slicer, and check the scale for your printer.
- How much does it cost?
- Downloads are pay what you want, including free. You can add a contribution at checkout if the artwork or model is worth it to you. No account is needed.
- Do you ship a printed poster or a 3D print?
