Machu Picchu was built in the fifteenth century on a ridge about 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) above sea level, with the Urubamba River looping through a deep gorge below and Huayna Picchu rising behind. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, listed as the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, and the classic Inca Trail ends at its Sun Gate.
The curated map area is small, about 15 by 13 kilometers around the citadel. In the Ridgeline preview, the steep peaks around the site rise as sharp crests across the frame, separated by the deep folds of the river gorge.
The preview is the Ridgeline export for this map area, generated from public global elevation data. In the creator you can change line density, perspective, colors and title, or switch to Contours or Strata. Choose 3D Terrain Model to download the area as a printable STL or 3MF; the download credits the elevation source used.
